And that baby rhino is still cute

But I also like the very tired looking big one

Plus the beautiful bee-eater! Always nice to see one of the for the KTP typical cousins.

Gardenia hide is a fantastic hide and in February not that much frequented as some others $O\/$

Did not felt that comfortable with that Grey mass on the other side of the Wood....

That big rhino was not in the mood to move - That private spa was simply too comfortable

We in fact had a fantastic time in watching, clicking and listening all of them and although they in fact did not stay that long but whooshed through the water whilst the smaller ones were allowed to even stay a bit longer to meet again on the other side of the hide and then they started to walk off and one after the other disappeared between the bushes deeper into the bush.

and it started to get quiet again besides some excited late comers who tried to keep up with the others

and besides our elephant bull who took a back seat whilst all the others were around and whilst the others got less he even dared to come again closer to us

until he was for my liking already far too close but what to do to simply sit petrified on our seats and hope that he also might walk off soon as it said often “Whatever you do, don’t run”. He took a deep breath of dust with his trunk and then he breathed out with his trunk and made sure that his body was covered totally with dust and for sure as we sat that close we got also our share of dust.

Gladly he obviously got bored and also followed the other elephants and we could move again and with the disappearance of the elephants the bush woke up again,

the bird calls could be heard and we even saw a couple of our beloved feathered friends such as a group of fast moving red-faced mousebirds,

European rollers,

a burchall’s coucal unfortunately far too hidden in a bush and carmine bee eaters.

After we thought all the elephants must now have moved far enough away to dare to walk back to the car we did so and in fact no grey body could be seen anymore, however, we nearly jumped into the car and drove off. A group of buffaloes came across next,

we in fact were allowed to take some extreme close ups and to admire his impressive horns.

In an area with a bit thicker vegetation we could capture two different species of beautiful butterflies

and were once again fascinated by the amount of different species and colours of same.

Two more rhinos peeped from behind of a bush

and the elephant herds already started to spend the hottest time of the day under a tree although the trees did not offer that much shade due to the dry leaves and drought and the treetops were by far extreme clear.

Today it was hot but bearable as most of the time clouds were hiding the sun so the shade under the tree was enough for the whole elephant group.

The smaller ones were looking out for something green but the bushes were already bare.
