From Berg to bush in March 2015 part three - Kruger NP*

back on the H3 we were entertained by these mongooses



which tried to enjoy the sun but they had to go hiding all the time as the impalas were on a mission to jump over their tree

quite a few amur falcons getting ready for the day

magpie shrikes were plenty on this trip



as were pin-tailed whydahs



and european rollers

we saw more zebras close to camp



and were joined for breakfast (we had breakfast, they watched and hoped for crumbs) by two natal spurfowls which allowed some pics

19.03.2015 Berg-En-Dal to Lower Sabie continued

after breakfast we loaded the car and left for Lower Sabie. We took the S 110, H3, S 114 and S 119 to Gardenia Hide. Along the way we saw an ellie



and lovely butterflies

we finally arrived at Gardenia hide





although there was not much water, there was a variety of animals and birds around

as was this knob-billed duck

next we had another first sighting. I thought that I had missed the actual kill when a croc grabbed a white-faced duck as I was busy with the birds but now I think that it might even have happened before we entered the hide

the funeral party was horrified watching that scene



then another lifer showed up, a white-throated robin-chat



and a terrapin was enjoying the sunshine



there were impalas as well as tawny-flanked prinias and a brown-hooded kingfisher which were too far away for decent pictures
