From Berg to bush in March 2015 part three - Kruger NP*

We left St. Lucia and as we did not have permission to visit Swaziland with our rented car, we drove around it. Finally the GPS sent us on a very scenic route. It was that scenic that we thought that we were lost again





but we finally reached the N4 between Nelspruit and Malelane. We arrived at Malelane gate at 5:15 pm, booked accomodation in Berg-En-Dal and entered the park.

Of course the question came up what would be the first sighting and none of us was correct, me voting for warthog while the SO opted for rhino. It was a herd of elephants too close for the lens (which happened more often later on on this trip)



only then we saw impala



and a juvenile bateleur

when we turned on the S 110 and stopped at a sighting, this car overtook us. I could not believe my eyes. Sorry about the blurred picture



later we saw a Porsche as well. Who takes these kind of cars to Kruger?

We saw another breeding herd of ellies with a very tiny one



european bee-eaters at a meeting

in camp already we saw a dwarf mongoose



and a praying mantis which accidently got into our chalet



that night we were visited by a genet but it was gone before we could get a picture while we were busy braaing and booking accomodation online for the next 4 nights

19.03.2015 Berg-En-Dal to Lower Sabie

Still in camp a bush baby disappeared into the tree next to our car. Just outside camp a snake crossed the road. We think it was a cobra but both were gone too fast for a picture

We went on the Matjulu loop and found some wildlife at the waterhole
