I am sure you had a more than delicious time in tasting some of them
Ja, the waxworks weren't bad, just too expensive!Richprins wrote:Another Italian family business!
Interesting, Flutts, and you would make a gorgeous President!
Didn't know there was a wax museum there, but good likenesses, some?

Re: Into the Madding Crowds!
Mounted police in Times Square
That evening we went up the Empire State Building to see the sunset. It has 102 storeys and including its antenna spire it stands 443m high. The outdoor observation deck is on the 86th floor. There is an enclosed observation deck on the 102 floor, but also costs more money. The Empire State Building makes more money from tickets sales for its observation decks than it does from renting office space! The elevator took 12 seconds to go from the 1st floor to the 80th floor and your ears actually pop as you go up!
Looking downtown towards World Trade Centre One. The Statue of Liberty can just be seen on the small island in the middle.
Waiting for sunset. We were facing into the wind and it was absolutely freezing!! Sunset is probably the most popular time for tourists to visit, and it's a bit of a scramble to get a good spot!
The Chrysler building and New Jersey in the background.
Looking uptown.
Downtown after dark.
Midtown...the glow in the middle is from the lights in Times Square!
Looking up!

Great night shots and the view from above is for sure stunning, Flutterby,
although must say that it sounds extreme expensive to visit New York

Re: Into the Madding Crowds!
Empire State at sunset and nightfall is the bestest! And what great photos you took! What's your secret for not getting them all blurred?
Must say the Italian New Yorker fraction seems to be a bit crazy... fairy lights decorated like Christmas, but tables on the sidewalks like summer,
and all of that end of April when it's still rather cold.
I found prices for alcohol quite steep in general. Even a beer is pretty expensive. Makes you live healthy while inhaling all the pollution.
And $40 per person for Madame Tussaud's is a rip off in itself. Even if there had been a large variety of good wax figures... But Beyoncé certainly
isn't well done. Looks totally artificial. The others shown here are okay though. Morgan Freeman even looks at you.

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

A novel idea - enticing tourists to spend their money! Don't think they could handle load shedding there!Richprins wrote:

Thanks Pumbaa! Our Rand is the problem, so probably not so bad for Europeans to visit.Pumbaa wrote:Great night shots and the view from above is for sure stunning, Flutterby,

Re: Into the Madding Crowds!
The photos were pure luck Mel! The sidewalk tables in Little Italy were all empty - still way too cold to sit outside at night! The waxworks often look worse in photos as they look all shiny. Anyway, I've done it in London and NY...no need to do it again!Mel wrote:Empire State at sunset and nightfall is the bestest! And what great photos you took!
