Rietvlei Nature Reserve through Greenies' Eyes

A quick snack at the coffee shop and we headed out for a drive.

Down to the Island View Hide but nothing to see there.

In the area was a Stonechat.


And a Black-Breasted Snake Eagle.







At Otter Dam I managed to snap a Yellowbilled Duck taking off.


Rhinos in the sunset.


We ended up at Coot's Corner Hide (?) and chatted with one of the Rietvlei Game Guides who was there.

Movement on the shoreline caught our attention. A brand new species of mammal for us!

Marsh Mongoose!


We sat for a while longer and only saw some Cattle Egrets and Gyppos flying in to roost.



Then we went home.

Super sighting of the Marsh Mongoose - first time I heard of them in the reserve.

Grey-backed Camaroptera but might be wrong

The camaroptera has a longer and black bill On the other hand I have no better proposal, too much green for a Neddicky
