Does anyone have more info on this park?

I have seen some pictures on Facebook over the weekend taken at this park of the most beautiful birds - and you can FISH here also

Some information from the Internet - yet someone's personal experience is almost always the best.

The Borakalalo Game Reserve is a protected area in North West Province, South Africa. It is located about 80 kilometres NNW of Pretoria and 60 km north of Brits.

In addition to the mammals, over 350 species of bird have been recorded in the park. These include eagles and other birds of prey
The focal point of the Borakalalo Game Reserve is the Klipvoor Dam along the Moratela River. This avian sanctuary attracts hundreds of bird species, including the majestic African fish eagle.

The park can be explored either by car along the many roads that traverse the reserve, or by foot along the quiet river banks of the Moratela River.

I haven't been there, but while staying at Hans Merensky Nature Reserve we met a man who highly recommended it mainly because one can walk in the bush there. He was very enamored with it!

Had a fantastic day out there a few years back with a couple of SA birders and saw 116 species of bird on that day. I loved the place. It was great to be able to walk around to check things out.

That's the vibe I was getting from Facebook.... 116 birds in one day

I wrote the guy and asked how safe was it to camp there and how was that last piece of dirt road leading to the park.
I am waiting for his reply. This surely looks like a weekend outing.
... and it's not just birding, there is that whole list of animols.

Fishing also permitted

Perfect spot for me , but Tala in KZN used to permit this, although I got chased around 8 times by hippo over 7 overnight trips and once had to use my rod like a fencing expert to ward off an upset impala. I assume many others had the same experiences as they banned most fishing around 2 years ago there

I had a worse experience there Amoli

I was fishing at around 6:20am and felt that familiar “need”, so was plotting a spot in the reeds, however a bass suddenly chowed my rubber worm, so I got distracted, but then a darn hippo charged out the water I roared half naked through the grass with a hippo after me while a shocked family on a morning drive watched

I dropped my rod, but retrieved it 10 minutes later and a bass was still on, however the shocked family waited around for me to reel it in and then clapped
