We on our way to Camdeboo National Park, the last stop on our trip. Camdeoo means green valley and the rest camp is located on the flood plains of the Nqweba Dam.
The Lakeview Tented Camp has 4 units and each tent sleeps 2 people and has a braai, fridge, table and 2 chairs. Bedding and towels provided. There is a communal kitchen, equipped with stove, crockery and cutlery, and a microwave and also a communal braai area. Communal showers and toilets are provided.
It was a sweltering 46 degrees when we got there and with no fan or aircon, the tent was not the place to be. We went for a drive. Game in the Park include buffalo, gemsbok, eland, red haartebest, springbok, and black backed jackal.
We saw
The main attraction of Camdeboo is not the game but the beautiful vistas at the Valley of Desolation
where dolerites form jointed pillars which rise to heights of about 100 meters

Re: Across the Frontier into Eden
Beautiful pics of the lion in Karoo NP , and you were very fortunate with that sighting . We still have to see any of them . BTW , originally 2 males were introduced ( brought from Addo , and originating from KTP ) , named Bitterbal and Nossob . One of them was bitten by a snake and died , and since then another two young ones were introduced .
Enough is enough
Re: Across the Frontier into Eden
A storm was brewing as we drove up to the Valley of Desolation. We were very lucky to get this storm as it gave us a beautiful backdrop for the lovely scenery.
You also get a great view of the town Graaff-Reinett from the top.

I keep this TR as a treat!
Only on p28 now...sorry to be in reverse!
Those signs came up fast after the Skukuza pensioner falling over the railings incident a couple of years ago. They are not relevant should there be negligence on SP's part regarding an accident, and a gigantic bluff!
The abovementioned case continues, with settlement due!

Camdeboo - My Verdict
Camdeboo camp is an idyllic setting overlooking the dam. The temperatures are extreme but well worth it for a day or two.
The main attraction is the rock formations and not the Parks wildlife.
