Hi Lisbeth. We did find it a bit strange to see this purple tree in the middle of all the others.

The start of our "walk" at Monks Cowl.

In the morning we had travelled up from Durban after breakfast and arrived at Monks Cowl at 14:00. So we started our walk:

- On an empty stomach with only an apple and a small bottle of water.
- The temperature today was 35.
- I was dressed in smart casual outfit and Joan in similar. I did not want to wear shorts as I was scared of ticks and other creepy crawlies.

As time was not on our side we decided to do the shortest trail, a circular route that took one to some river pools and then the Sterkspruit water fall, of 2.5km which they said could be completed in 1 hour.

Found this fellow along the way.

We crossed over many little streams tumbling over rocks.

So far the trail was like a walk in the park.

We continued our walk which was fairly easy it was a gentle slope down towards the pools.

Here is Joan way down there.

At last we reached the pools - absolutely beautiful.

After a brief rest we moved on to the waterfall. This walk was now sort of level with some ups and downs.
By the time we reached the waterfall I was exhausted.

To be continued.
