SO's Surprise trip to Mkhuze Part 2 Daytrip to Hluhluwe 2013

Thanx all for joining on the day trip part of the TR.

After leaving Mkhuze we traveled in the rain and Mist to the gate of Hluhluwe
We were running a bit low on diesel but planned to drive through to Mpila to fill up in Imfolozi as our plan was to get to the Sontuli loop as early as possible to try find some doggies for the

first time.





Our first sighting of the day was not our usual start of a giraffe buta burchell's coucal




But our second one was


We then found a bone cleaner



And further on a YBK

After the wet YBK we found this bee eater


Another YBK waited for better weather

A stork walked through the long grass



On a bridge we found a swallow


We caught a glimps of an ellie behind some bushes


And we found another YBK



We seemed to be having a good birding day the next sighting in the tree was .....

Panthera leo perched high up in a tree





We moved around and found the rest of the Pride also in the tree



Then Junior decided it was time to get down





Mom watched the descent then went back to sleep



We carried on to Mpila where we found out that they dont stock diesel only petrol .So as we were very low on diesel now we had to abandon our planned trip to Sontuli and backtrack all the way back to Hilltop camp ....

At Hiltop we enjoyed the stunning scenery and some lunch





After filling up everything we carried on arround HluHluwe
We found some Buffalo




We found the stork again


A Legavaan ran for cover as we approached




Our last sighting for the trip was a crash




We sadly left the park to drive home ....
