Funny story about gate times.......

Last time we went to Pilanesburg (Bakubang) in December 2011.
The first morning I wake my son up at 4:45am and off we go for our our first morning drive.
Get to the gate just before 5am, and firmly locked, and no sign of the guard. So we wait for him to arrive. And I am getting more and more irate. By 5:15 I am really cheesed off. Anyhow's another car or two pull up at about 5:25, and at this stage I am really peeved. 0=

The guard turns up and I give him a pierce of my mind - that he had kept us waiting for half an hour, why was he so late etc. He points to my entry permit and the gate opening times........ December....5:30am :o0ps:

I felt like a total idiot and appologised profusely. 0:

The irony is that the Mrs wasn't happy about me waking our son up so early and the night before had suggested we go out a bit later...... --00--

Noooooo, She wasn't right. 0=
She just didn't want the child woken up too early and then grumpy for the rest of the day.
Nothing to do with knowing when the correct gate time was

You can see we had this "discussion" a few times O/

Posted on the Latest Sightings - Pilanesberg FB page today:
Please Note:
As from 1 December 2017 Campers and Golden Leopard Resort residents fees will no longer include entry into Pilanesberg Game Reserve.

NWPB has removed this advantage for campers and residents and therefore each day you wish to enter into Pilanesberg Game Reserve you will need to pay your daily entrance fee at any of the main gates.
This was only announced today, with immediate effect!! There's a huge outcry on FB from people who have already booked their December holidays and didn't budget for this!! 0*\

These are the current Entrance Fees:

Pilanesberg tariffs are per person and per vehicle.

Adults: R80
Adults Foreign Nationals: R110
Children (6-12 yrs): R30
Pensioners (SA only): R40
Vehicles (Sedan/LDV/SUV): R40

So for two people it works out to R200/day compared to Kruger which would be R164/day. And Pilanesberg accommodation is more expensive than Kruger!! 0*\
