We prefer the north, it just gives us a different feel. We normally spilt our trip up into north and south. We have seen major roadblocks in the north BUT not as often as seen in the south. We go to the park to see game but also to have time out from the hussle and bustle of life in Johannesburg. We leave camp every second morning as the gates open and sometimes we just park at a waterhole/dam or under a shady tree and just absorb the smells, sounds, life of the Kruger. The mornings that we don't leave when the gates open are spent chilling in the camp, either swimming (if a pool is available) or just sitting on our camp chairs near the fence under a tree with our binoculars and just absorbing all the sights and smells that Kruger has to offer. We have never been "big 5 hunters", if we see cats believe me it is a real treat but if we are driving along and see a roadblock with lots of cars and chaos, we turn around and go back in the direction where we have just come from. When we started going to the Kruger our child was a baby and now she is matriculating in a few months time, she has never ever been bored or insisted that she has to see the big 5, we have taught her to love the bush and expect the unexpected, and we have been blessed with magnificent sightings over the years. :O^ :O^

Got back from the South yesterday, and some scary roadblocks...

The second one carried on all day Friday...a leopard couple or something...

Lots of animals, though, and if you go onto the smaller dirt roads it's ok!

=O: =O: I was in that road block in the morning and it was much bigger O**

I stopped at the same spot the next day when there were no cars around and within 10 minutes I had created a massive roadblock and we were just parking off as there was nothing to see (and I had a sore head from a meet and didn't want to drive far from camp O** 0*\ =O: ) Many in the south lose the plot 0-

Maybe a good point you make, BC....meeting friends is a lot easier in the South? -O-
