Klippies - interesting that the tick is a diff. species. If I may be so lazy :o0ps: - what characteristics make it different than the other one I posted in the AW book, please? Thanks.
Very easy to tell apart: coarse vs smooth scutum

https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... 2/download

Hyalomma marginatum rufipes: Dorsal region 1) Legs with pale rings; 2) scutum rugged large punctuations; 3) short lateral grooves; 4) presence of paracentral festoons

Hyalomma truncatum; Dorsal region 1) Dark and shiny conscutum; 2) Pale rings on the legs; 3) Festoons; and caudal depression;

harries, RP, Sis (I stay outside most of the time no matter what camp, but Grootkolk is a bit smallish, for sure), Peter (agree, a few camping sites up north would be splendid :-0 ), Pumbaa, Alf (I'm still excited for YOUR trip! O/\ ), Flutts, and Klippies ( thanks for the tick info.) - thank you for motivating me to keep on. It really helps, as anyone who writes a TT knows. You're each very special. 0/0

On the way to Urikaruus, we drove the Marie se draai loop, then the Upper Dune Road. A few sightings along the way:

Our last sunrise at Grootkolk:

Lots of thirsty doves along the way:

A couple lions here and there:

At Marie, we saw a cheetah, very far away that was a new one for us - Liat.

No animals were at the waterhole for a good reason:

The Dune Road was its usually quiet self, with a few gatherings of animals at the waterholes.

It was nice to be at the honeymoon unit at Urikaruus because, as I've said before, the enclosed car area allows me to photograph insects at night in a protected space. So, guess what's coming up next???? -O-

Seeing a kudu and a gemsbok like that is not at all normal

The name "lacewings" is very appropriate. They look very diaphanous :-)

Lovely sunrise gnus ^Q^ ^Q^

I'm definitely going to miss the solitude of the Grootkolk area on our next trip. Not a single night there...

lol about the goshawk needing to consult with the jackals and caracal

That was one fat male lion looking about to burst O**

More lol about the hyena peeking out of the waterhole. But the downside is that Marie seems to have been pretty empty...

Your macros are superb as always and I'm looking forward to see what you got in that enclosure at Uri.
Maybe I should try that too next time. :-? Just not sure if I'm as patient as you are :o0ps:
