Browns in Kruger - April and September 2018 (JHB Clan)

Post by Supernova »

Hi All;

This year was the first year that we were to stay outside the park, so we went ahead and book a place in Marloth park. We had stayed in Marloth in 2017 and had a good experience. Work also did not allow for the normal 5 nights that we were used to, so we split this years trip into an April and September trip.

We booked a place in Marloth called "Kruger River Self-Catering", a 4 bedroom / 4 bathroom house on the Crocodile river.

Using Google photos for this trip report, so I don’t have an issue with TinyPic closing down, thanks to RogerFraser for sorting out all my previous TRs ^Q^

The house was AWESOME !! Huge bedrooms, all en suite, two lounges, huge viewing deck and covered patio. Also comes with wood + briquettes provided and two guys who do all the cleaning for you, and at half the price of Sanparks !

All bedrooms also have views into Kruger

We entered the park at about 16h30 for a short evening drive. Just after Croc Bridge a Cheetah was getting the late afternoon sun.

Another head popped up, we thought there were only two, but more were to follow later.

I see that little by little quite a few are starting to stay outside the park like me. Especially staying for a longer period or being a big family, there is a huge difference in prize \O

Marloth is a great place to stay as I know from experience and staying in a great place like that one makes it even better. Not like the poor accommodations in Kruger, where there is little space and always something not working or missing :yes:

Some Ellies just before Gezantombi dam

We continued a slow drive towards Lower Sabie on the H4-2 but the game sightings slowed as well, so we headed back to Croc Bridge

Image

Spotted a Puff Adder on the side of the road, we tried to chase it off the road, but it was not moving, can only hope that it moved off before being driven over.

Some Buffalo at Gezantombi dam

A few moth eaten vultures hanging around and a Red Necked Francolin making a noise

Just before Croc Bride gate we found the Cheetah again, this time with large cubs. We sat with them, watching them playing, until gate closing time.
