Not at all, Lisbeth, but when it rained it rained harder and heavier but not the whole day

Unfortunately not much else was around and so we did not stay that long but had luck on the tar road again as another African cuckoo showed up again in the open.

Originally we wanted to drive today to Orpen dam but what to say that road was also closed. So we carried on at the tar road and made a break at Tshokwane which was indeed quite full. At Mazithi which was more than full we only spotted a grey heron in a tree but nothing else, however,

Image

the S86 was open so we paid a visit there but also this road was more than quiet today. Kumana was then next and here at least the water birds were more than plentiful around – We saw dabchicks,

Image

a grey heron and white faced ducks

Image

whilst the heron was on hunting mode the ducks were more than chilled,

Image

the jacana presented its alien feet

Image

Image

and now the white faced ducks even came closer. We indeed stayed quite a long time there and simply enjoyed the silence and view.

Image

On our further drive we stopped then for a lovely posing brown snake eagle

Image

and to our luck the road leading to the Southernmost baobab was open so we paid a quick visit there

Image

and further North also the S125 was open and so we finally could leave the busy tar road and turned into a far quieter sand road where we soon came across to two nyala bulls

and a group of wildebeests.

Image

Suddenly we were surrounded by lot of Carmine bee eaters

Image

who were busy in searching for bees and other insects

Image

Image

and to our delight a group of warthogs stopped long enough

Image

so that we finally could capture them and even their hitchhikers.

Image

Image

We then spent quite a while with a nicely posing African hawk eagle in a tree

Image

Image

and with a large group of resting impalas.

to be continued……
