Guess away.
Barbel? vehicle going off road and into the reeds through the dip (no running water that we could see), hitting and stunning it? Fish eagle with eyes bigger than belly. Hyena or baboon wanting a fishy snack??

The barbel go overland sometimes to find water when their pools dry up...so it was dead?
