Funny how the KNP slender mongoose differs from its KTP cousins who are more reddish-brownish.

Lovely landscape photos with the elephants :-)

And that boon kid is way too cute. 0/0

Wonder what that road sign with the two arrows means?

And what is this new weir? -O-

Aha! \O

Arriving in Shingwedzi - our base-camp for the North.

Post by 100ponder »

A little later our trek followed the route that swung away from the Olifants and as we approached the area where there is a rocky ridge on the eastern side of the road an oncoming car stopped us to advise that they have just seen an elephant on top of the ridge.

A few hundred meters further and there he was !

A young bull foraging amongst the rocks right on top of the rocky ridge :-

Image

After spending a while observing this elephant doing some mountaineering, we proceeded further up north and then there were two magnificent elephant bulls - one with quite a promise for the future :-

Image

Our trek proceeded north and beyond Mopani we spotted this magnificent Mega Buffalo that was really fat complimenting his very wide horns :-

Just note how wide his horns are protruding on both sides of his body when seen from behind.
( Can we please keep remarks to how wide his horns on his head are ? )

Later we reached the Shingwedzi turn-off and at the Shingwedzi / S134 "T"-junction this very promising tusker and some askaries were foraging :-

Image

And then a little closer to the Shingwedzi gate the prize !

Mandzemba ! ! :-

We have truly arrived in TUSKER LAND ! ! !
