Amazing moth  Most moths have rather dull colours ;-)

Cute mongooses :-) :-)

The giraffe really looks “Tour Eiffel” compared to the car O-/
There wasn't much light but yes, that's pretty much what it looked like, they are very orange!

Most moths are dreary but some are really amazing, especially some of the Hawk and Owl Moths!

One of the biggest Giraffes I've seen, the car only reaches its knees!

Hi Nan, Dwarf Mongooses are always worth watching and the kingfisher was a rare one!

Day 2 Monday 10 November : Maroela.

We were up and out just after the gates opened at 04:30.

Just before sunrise I found a Giraffe that was perfectly positioned for a silhouette shot.

Game was sparse on the H7 but we found an Ele near the road.
Image

We planned to head up the S39 to Timbavati for breakfast but we decided to continue on the H7 and take the S12.

When we got to the S12 junction we thought we might as well continue on the H7 and see if we could find the Lions that hang out around Nsemani Dam.

We got lucky!

One of the Lionesses started to stalk an Impala but the buck spotted her and she relaxed.

Game on the S40 to Timbavati was also sparse but we found some Redbreasted Swallows

and about 4kms from the picnic spot, two big Lions.

At Timbavati there were a few bugs.

A Spider Hunting Wasp?

Some fairly big Ants.
Image

and what looks like a Leafcutter Bee taking something into its nest.

Back at camp the BluTuna and ORT...

The afternoon drive was not very productive, the first 25kms of the H7 was almost devoid of game for the whole of our stay at Maroela.

Back at camp for the evening and there were a few bugs to be found.

Another beautiful moth.

Image

A not so colourful one.

And a False Mud Dauber Wasp.
