It is time for a break...

Post by Jesse »

Me, my SO and our LO needed to get out of town for a bit to breathe in some fresh air from the bush, and what better place to do it than in KNP...? So we acquired two nights in Maroela and one in Skukuza to pitch a tent. All in all it was a very nice weekend with highs and lows, but with batteries recharged we returned to the big city. Maroela is a gem, my first time ever camping there, and I will definitely return there. On the other hand the Skukuza campsite was something I did not like. From the moment we got there I was irritated with children racing around on their bicycles ignoring people asking them to return to their tents with their bicycles and the parents getting upset when a gentleman asked them to keep the children at bay. There is definitely an Honorary Ranger needed in Skukuza over the school holidays, for we saw in the past that the presence of such helps a lot.

We went for dinner at the Selati restaurant and it was delicious. The service was great and we didn't wait that long for our food as well. I was quite surprised about this because I heard a lot of stories about bad service there.

I am trying to post some of our photos, so when I post them, please let me know whether it is too big or too small.

Hi Toko, sorry I didn't take any photos of the food. But for one thing our LO ordered a pitza, and it was so huge we had to take 75% of it back in a doggy bag, and ate pitza for a while in the car the next day... ;-)

I am looking forward to hear more of your trip. 0()
Maroela beats Skukuza city as a camping ground any day. \O
