Help with itinerary flow

Post by judik »

Want to do the least amount of driving and back tracking
I have 10 nights to spend in the area
Flying into Durban-Is it worth staying in town for 2 nights or should I move up the road a bit?
After that i want to go to iMfolozi,Thula Thula and St Lucia
I need to be in St Lucia prior to Mpila to pick up supplies
Should i go there first, then on to iMfolozi, and then to Thula Thula ending up back in Durban to fly to JNB to then fly home.Or should i go to Thula thula first then the other places?
I am really not at all familiar with driving distances or geography for that matter
Help!!!
Judi

I can not comment on the route, but if you have 10 days only, don't spend time in Durban?

I would also give Durban a miss...although there is the Ushaka Marine World which would take a morning to do. \O

Perhaps for the route: Go to St Lucia first, then iSimangaliso and from there you enter Hluhluwe iMfolozi at the Northern Gate and can go all the way through the park (it's 4 hours with stops etc) to Mpila (you can do the shopping in the town of Hluhluwe) and Thula Thula then last?

But I think it's also good the other way round and does not really matter?

Thanks, that's what i was thinking so its nice to have some reinforcement
Did not know that I could enter at the north gate and drive though the park, that sounds great
Was going to use St Lucia as a base for exploring the area-is that a good idea
I was also going to stock up on supplies there. Is that a bad idea?

You can stock up at Spar in St Lucia, McKenzie St. \O

St Lucia is good to do the Eastern Shores and Cape Vidal of iSimangaliso, it's about 35 km from the town to Cape Vidal and in the park there are several roads and loops, hides, beaches to explore.

If you want to see other parts of iSimangaliso, it's too far for daytrips, it's a huge area and you can access the different sections only from different access roads.
