Orpen Rest Camp

Orpen is a smallish camp with bungalows/chalets at the Orpen Gate to Kruger.

The staff here rocks. For us this is the camp with the best, friendliest service.

From the swimming pool one has a view on the waterhole, which is also available on webcam.

The Orpen area is a very game-rich environment due to favourable grass growth and regular water in the Timbavati River. Visibility is generally good and predators of all species are commonly seen.

What to look for:

Wildebeest, black-backed jackal
Red Bushwillow

We have booked an early morning drive from Tamboti in July and I am presuming that the drive starts at Orpen then collects people from Tamboti and Maroela? Ei I telephoned Orpen to make the booking and when I asked what time it starts and ends I did not get an answer, the "person" said that they did not know, so my question is does anybody else know? Thanks

We did a drive in March wen the gates open at 0530. We left Orpen at 0415 to call at Maroela and Tamboti.

Why does any kind of work in a National Park always take ages? 0*\
