Ezemvelo KZN CEO, David Mabunda steps down

Updated July 25, 2017, 4:16 p.m. | By Shaun Ryan

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife's CEO, Dr David Mabunda has resigned from the organisation.

Ezemvelo says Mabunda gave his farewell speech at the Queen Elizabeth Park in Pietermaritzburg earlier today.

In his address, Mabunda said a reported power struggle between the board and management of Ezemvelo was incorrect.

He says it's time for him to step aside and watch Ezemvelo surge forward and grow independently.

Spokesperson, Musa Mntambo says Mabunda has taken up an honorary professorship at the Academic Union Oxford.

"We had a meeting with the board and they resolved that he would leave amicably. The main reason for Mabunda to decide to resign is that two weeks ago, he was made a professor and he is now required to work in an environment that's academic in nature," he says.

Mabunda joined Ezemvelo in November 2014 and had been tasked with stabilising the organisation and turning around its migration restructuring.

I am not too sure that it's a good thing :-? You know what you have, but not what you get O**

I did not like him at the head of Sanparks, but he might have been a good thing for Ezemvelo -O-
