Development Plans for Addo Elephant NP - Matyholweni

Post by Puff Addy »

From the South African National Parks Strategic Plan 2016/17-2019/20:

No. 100 Extension of Matyholweni Rest Camp, 10 x units, services
Start: 2016/04/01 Finish: 2019/03/31

No. 161 Matyholweni camp[ing] and caravan sites, Develop 20 x camp[ing] and caravan sites, ablutions
Start: 2019/04/01 Finish: 2021/03/31

The "vision" seems to be to gradually make the south of Addo as busy as the north. Look for a Wimpy in the next Strategic Plan. 0*\

Camping in the south would be very welcome. But possibly the most important development plan which doesn't seem to be there is an ablution facility somewhere in the southern half of the park 0*\ O** O**

It says ablutions above... -O-

Or do you just mean somewhere for visitors to take a leak?

Well, if those development go through, you can visit Addo only in low season anymore. At least 30 more cars in peak season like Easter is bound to crowd special sightings even more :O^

And, by the way, camping can already be done on the adjacent Sundays River. O:V
