SANParks have commenced the EIA and what not for the proposed Skukuza Hotel, a real Double-storey luxury construction.
Once again they have claimed construction will begin this year, but the EIA process is still underway. H.e should start up a thread regarding all that here soon.
Some say it doesn't matter, as it is within an existing camp and Skukuza is a little city anyway. Others say it is still unacceptable, as it is another moneymaking scheme and will add to the already overstretched tourist capacity of the Southern section, making the roads even more crowded etc.
Members' thoughts?

Re: Should AW Oppose the Skukuza Hotel?
Thank you RP!! Indeed that little city is growing at an alarming rate!!
Plenty money set aside for exploitation, yet little for a traffic light!!
Guess the Honorary Rangers will inherit that task!!!

I’m totally against any more development in an already crowded southern section of KNP, in an existing camp or not.
I think that this thread should be called “How is AW going to oppose the Skukuza hotel”
A few questions from an old thread
70. What was planned for accommodating the SKUKUZA Conference Centre attendees, when the EIA for the Centre was done?
71. Will the planned SKUKUZA Hotel have 24/7 access, will it be a park and ride facility?
73. When is SANParks planning to start the process of public participation for the planned Hotel at Skukuza
Maybe all should read questions 1 - 69 and 73 to ...................again

Re: Should AW Oppose the Skukuza Hotel?
I deeply believe that Africa Wild should oppose!!!
This would be and become a very moral question,
left to the reader to answer!! Again here we are left
standing with antagonising hurt for short lived relieve!!
Again national parks are becoming target for relieve
in some unjustified sense!! Mere stepping stones toward
a situation of misunderstanding!! This kind of scenario
should be avoided, at all cost!!
The public at large, though maybe not their immediate
concern, should be educated that any abuse would be a
very short lived thrill in life!!
Sanparks you are obligated to teach your children well,
meaning, "steer them away from total poverty".
There seems to be so much turmoil in life that the little
what counts, goes unnoticed.
Sanparks, by casting a blind eye to the nitty gritties in life
can be easily classed as pretentiously naive, embarking
yourselves more and more on other issues, such as,....
money making and commercialisation!!! A very short sighted
habit generally used.
Every decision in life has a moral connotation attached!! Are
you Sanparks, prepared to breach those values in life that make
for sanctity???
To allow for another senseless endeavour by way of a hotel in
what can be classed as over speculated area, would be as simple
as breaching personal self indulgence thinking nobody will see!!
We are fast breaking the moral rules that govern life so carefully!!

Re: Should AW Oppose the Skukuza Hotel?
What other facilities will this “hotel” have? SPA, bar, (Maybe Toko can pull this out) etc.
Should this even be considered with the current poaching situation? Surely SANParks there are more important things to consider?
Are these visitors free to visit a Deli that already can’t cope?
Is the reception, that already makes people wait from a 2pm book in until 3pm for service going to increase in staff count and size?
More to follow

That moral fibre in life can be classed in the same category
as verge clearing in another thread! Also senseless!!

The loss of income from flood-stricken camps may also be cited as a reason...3 years after the fact?
