We went back to Nshawu No 3 and to our surprise there were no cars to be seen , so we parked next to the hollow and found the source to our frustration of yesterday.
No raptors to be seen. Only a few hyena skulking about. Just look at the size of its stomach.
We still had no clue as to what killed the little zebra but assumed it might have been the hyena's.

We drove along the s50 for what seemed an eternity. This area is not really condusive to leopard type trees.
Eventually we saw two SUV;s parked on the side of the road. As we approached slowly there was this one tree that looked totally out of place.
We scanned the tree but could not see the leopard. Just our luck. It had most probably jumped out and gone off.
The driver of one of the SUV';s called us over and told us that the leopard was at the base of the tree in the grass. He could just about see it but we had no chance in our little sedan. He told us to watch to the left of the base as every now and again he would swish his tail. This was the only sign that he was still around. Any way, we found a position between the two SUV's but still saw nothing.
After a while one of the SUV;s drove off so we moved into his position which now gave us a bit more height.
A few more minutes went by and the guy that told us about the leopard called it a day and drove off.
After a few minutes we saw the swish of a tail and suddenly felt very elated. He was still here. We both agreed that we would sit this one out.
We must have arrived at the spot at about 12 noon. At 12:35 we suddenly saw his head appear and he look up the tree. Joan got her camera out and the following pics are the sequence. He did not look very comfortable in the tree so we decided to sit it out as we were sure he would not stay there too long or go to sleep.
And then at 13:00 he made his down and out of the tree.
With a beautiful dive into the grass.
What really surprised us is that, during the time he was in the tree, was the number of cars that drove past without even slowing down.
