Kruger artificial watering holes to close

Johannesburg - Four artificial water holes in the Kruger National Park will be demolished to prevent ecological problems, the park said on Wednesday.
“Artificial water holes, where water did not previously occur, have led to numerous ecological problems such as erosion and other environmental degradation,” spokesman William Mabasa said.
The water holes to be destroyed are N’watimhiri and Nhlotini, both on the S21 tourist road, and Manyavula and Bejwane, along the southern side of the N’waswitshaka River and west of the S65 gravel road.
The holes would be demolished next week, Mabasa said.

The access road to Nwatimhiri is closed, maybe they didn't blow it up?

On the S21 again a Common Duiker showed up, strange that we saw one each day.
At a nearly dry waterhole plenty of game met. A dark Giraffe was just leaving and Herons, Storks and Impalas shared the bit of water which was left.
The last sighting for this episode was a first sighting for me, a Southern White-crowned Shrike.

This road is also one of two halves, the western part is granitic combretum woodland, merging to dense delagoa bush as one goes eastward to the Sabie floodplain.
Ellies near the western end:
Along the whole length one may find temporary mudwallows . This one contained a dying hippo during the 2016 drought:

More of the rhino on page 1 - they simply would NOT move, and held us up for 30mins!
