Thanks Toko I was hoping that it might be a nudibranch, but I think that you are right. However, other sea anemones that I've seen are round, so this shape is something a bit different.Toko wrote:Sea anemone, perhaps family Actiniidae

Can anyone help with an ID for this caterpillar? Seen at Rondevlei (Cape Town) in late September 2013.

The caterpillar is of the genus Bombycomorpha (Lasiocampidae), and there are several similar ones Bombycomorpha bifascia or B. pallida

I love the red bugs, arks, lovely capture of Caeneus carnifex
The moth is family Geometridae, but for genus or species
And I had a closer look into the Bombycomorphas, your caterpillar is Bombycomorpha bifascia
