Satara Mega Pride

Post by JoeKing »

Anyone know how big the mega pride is now?

Also where are there favourite stomping grounds?

We are in Tamboti 1st and 2nd November and want to take a drive to Satara to drive the infamous S100(that stumped us in the Rat Pack Challange)

The Sweni Pride is Puny in numbers compared to the Boyela Pride which is well over 30 when all present ..The Best Big 5 area in Kruger is from Tsendze Loop (Magadzi Picnic site Latitude to Babalala ) Perfect lion country , Biggest Tuskers , Most 1000 plus Buffalo herds in the Park plus Non Satara rarities like Southern Reedbuck , Sharpes Grysbok , Sable , Roan Antelope , Eland , Tssessebe etc etc ..Next week will be camping 3 weeks in the Middle of all this at Tsendze..Pic of the Boyela MEGA Pride ..the real deal near Sirheni this time

..If you are staying at Tamboti ..STAY in that area and look for REAL lions ..The Skybed Pride which roams Ngala area of Timbavati /N Manyaleti and Orpen area of Kruger ..The S36 turn off is as far as you need to go and turn right towards Muzandzene on the S36 ..Best section of Road in Kruger for Cheetah...Pics of Cheetah from there , Big Skybed Pride Males 1 km from Orpen, Nyala 12 kms from Tamboti, Lion in Mist Cor H7 and S 39 halfway to Satara , Big 1200 in Size Buff herd roams near Bobbejaanskrans , and last but not least Krugers most beautiful Male leopard ..the Bobbejaanskrans leopard..If you reach Satara you have gone too far from the best area in Central Kruger ..The S100 is over rated like the Toll Road between Skukuza and Lower Sabie

S36, I agree, saw a white cub there some years ago.

The S36 will be my route from LS to tamboti, time permitting of course

X#X..There's also a GREAT Wild Dog Pack in the Orpen area but I never see them as I go to Tamboti/Maroela in Aug/Sept and they are denning then off the tourist road H7 across the river near Red Gorten windmill but in Nov the pups will be roaming with the pack

Ja the Skukuza pack is often sighted around Kruger gate and south towards the Hamilton memorial where they have a den ..Yip they should be on that road to L Sabie to as it is not far but I have never seen them there ..but then I never travel on that road or stay at L Sabie or Skukuza but will do one day JUST to have early and late time at Lake Panic. My favorite 3 packs are the Orpen Pack , Phalaborwa Pack and the Shangoni/Redrocks Pack ..The Berg en Dal pack seems to have splintered over time ??
