And my map was published during May 2016 and they don’t say when the census was done


Next trip to the bush??

The last 100% comprehensive census of herbivores was in 1997. After that guessing games, despite money given for a full census in 2012 but never done... O**

The closing of some Northern waterpoints did seem to help, though. Looking back on the thread one can see many herds, very often with youngsters, from Babalala to Mopane! :-0

Thats an old map..Anthrax and habitat destruction have dropped that to well below 50 ..I heard 35 3 years ago but there have been babies recently and assuming NO predation???? that should be nudging 50 again ...Big group around Mopani is 13 in Sept ..11 were at Boyela 2 years ago and then small groups between Mopani and Babalala also including the 2 big groups I mentioned makes 50 look like an optimistic estimation

Ja Roan were about 350 back in 1997
