Accommodation between Upington and Marakele?

Post by AstroMatt »

I'm hoping that someone here will be able to give me some advice on accommodation.
I'm going to be travelling from KTP to Marakele just before Xmas and i'm looking to break the journey up somewhere between Upington and Marakele. There aren't any obvious national parks along the N14 so we were thinking of staying around the Yryburg area.
Does anyone have any good suggestions for places to stay. We would consdier camping but since they are two longish days we were going towards a guest house style thing.
There will be three of us if that makes a difference
Suggestions? 0()

Astromat,

Have you consider travelling through Botswana. You can enter SA at Derdepoort north of Gabarone. Madikwe is close to this border gate. From there travel to Thabazimbi,

If you rather want to miss border crossing Vryburg should be fine for a stop. I am thinking of stopping either at Van Zylsrus or Vryburg myself. There is a campsite a few km before Vryburg and Boereplaas Holiday resort on the way to Mafikeng. Haven't stay there myself, but will play with time and not book. You never know what you will see on the day you are leaving KTP.

A friend of mine will stay at Urikaruus when you are there early Dec. He was planning to stop en route to Secunda so maybe he did find a nice place.

Other option is Red sands at Kuruman, but it all depends what time you left KTP if it will be too early.

Chat to you next time at a leopard / lion sighting. 0/*

Hi Matt,

Kameelboom lodge is an option but personally I cannot say if it is as good as some of the reviews listed below. For 1 night stay it should be fine, but as you know Tswala will score high marks
