Would this be a mating pair or mum and offspring? :-?

In any case it is an outstanding sighting! 2 caracals together - just awesome. :-0
I am not an expert here either but they looked like a mating pair to me. -O-
I had to do some reading here because I was really intrigued by this sighting.

Caracals are solitary, but have been spotted in pairs. I've seen a few pix with two caracals of approximately the same size, some of them labelled as mum and cub.
But who knows what the photographer really knows about caracals... The only thing that made me think, your pair might indeed rather be mum and cub is that
female caracals are promiscuous when is oestrus. They tend to mate with more than one male and do so alternatingly. Survival of the fittest.
Not sure if the females would hang out for so long with the male under these circumstances. -O-

So, still no real idea, but I thought I might share. :-)

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.
