Hi FB,
People love to fish in Rietvleidam, but I do not know how successfull they are? You can go with and drive around. There are lots of animal babies. You can also try and find the Secretary birds. Perhaps there are chicks already!
Love

Thanks Eland,

Although SO was checking on the internet and apparently people are complaining that the dam is full of grass and the fishing is not so good.

Why not head out to Kromdraai where you can do some trout fishing and the Rhino Parks is just next door.

FB i like going to Brookwood trout farm

trout(Rainbown and golden) Small mouth yellow fish, Carp, and Large mouth bass all on flies. Bass on lures and carp on bait.

They have 4 dams and a river/stream running through the property with wild yellows.

There are braai facilities soft grass. Its situated about 3km from the Rhino and lion park in the CRADLE.

we were there last month and had lion roaring whilst fish. vervets also frequent the fishing water and there are a few water monitors around.

Entrance is R 60 for adults and R 40 for kids

*edit

and grass carp, in the one trout dam there is a grass carp of at least 12 kgs that loves swimming on the surface and close to the margins

Sorrry only saw this aftre i replied.

There are two in that area, but brookwood is the cheaper option with klooftzigt being R 135pp.

Brookwood even has chalets if you want to stay over and also allows for camping.

Rainbow trout farm which used to be my destination of choice closed down. There we'd throw out a few slices of bread and catch 20 carp on fly in a day.

This can be done at brookwood also, but the carps are more sporadic.

Caught fewer there but non under 4kgs and the fight they give on a 5/6 6/7 weight fly rod is aswesome.
