This is just awesome! Such a variety of small and big things and animals to see and your wonderful photos recording all of it.
Some unusual perspectives and shots of landscapes (with or without critters in there). Really enjoying this!

It does look like you did use your macro every now and then? Or was it zoomed in photos with your longer lens?

Thanks everyone.

Mel, it;s all the longer lens. It actually makes a great lens for the larger insects, as it has a pretty close focussing distance (1.3m), and with crop camera and teleconverter, it's about a 620mm focal length.

LC de Villiers Sports Ground

Post by BluTuna »

29 August 2015.
This area is part of the University of Pretoria and has a couple of lakes that have breeding colonies of Herons, Egrets and other birds. This was my first visit the the venue.

the 'Top Lake' is close to the main entrance and is only a few metres from the main car park. The first thing I saw was an interesting Hadeda which is either albino or leucistic.

There were plenty of Grey and Blackheaded Herons at the 'Top Lake'.

There was also a Satyr-Duck!

At the 'Bottom Lake' which is at the opposite end of the sports ground, some Gyppos. There were other birds but the light was wrong for good shots. The Sun was still close to its most northern position but I was assured by another photographer that it would get better through the spring and summer.
