I agree, very sad to see a majestic tree like that come to an end.

Time for some pics taken this weekend.

On Friday evening, as with a few more nights in the recent past, I had a Bat fly into my room again. It flies into my room and the lounge and always lands in specific spots, never anywhere else. It normally eats whatever it has caught where it lands, leaving insect bits, urine spots and droppings on the floor. This time it had no food and luckily I had a guest that could help lighting it up with my spotlight while I took pics.

If someone can give me a positive ID of this Bat, I would appreciate it...

Later on the opposite bank, I spotted the huge Crocodile. This creature must easily be between 4 and 5 metres long...

The weather is beautiful here today, a bit coolish at 06h00 when I went on drive, but it warmed up pretty quickly.

I loved the pose of this Crowned Lapwing and the early light was a bonus...

I then spotted a Giraffe that must have had a narrow escape. It has lost a large piece of it's tail and it is sporting what look like claw marks on it's rump. Over here it holds it's stump tail up, so that an Oxpecker can do some cleaning around it's butt...

That's it for now. Stay safe, everyone!! X#X

^Q^ ^Q^ Lots of good sightings, and I never get tired of seeing them O/\ Lovely Plover photo.

Your guest bat is very likely Nycteris thebaica Egyptian slit-faced bat. They fly into homes in the evening, catching flying insects that are attracted by the light. (But i can not be trusted with bats)

Although I'm not very fond of bats inside the house, I think yours is a fantastic capture. It's good to have light people sometimes lol

Unique capture of the oxpecker on the giraffe's behind... with the funny short tail of the latter.

\O Lovely pics again and the bat is awesome ^Q^ . We have some bats that live in our roof we only ever see /hear them occasionally or on the odd year we have reason to crawl in the ceiling space .
