The Noosa Coastal Track - 10.8km return.

Parking area to Hells Gate 5.4 km.

Starting in the rock pools a sea slug.

Hermit Crab.

Plenty of these dispensers around. Here in South Africa they would always be empty - not from use but from theft of the bags. ;-) ;-)

An unidentified butterfly.

Father and son resting about halfway to Hells Gate.

Watching dolphins frolicking at the point near Hells Gate.

Hells Gate. No fences to be seen, just straight down. I would hate to get caught up in this lot and this with a calm sea.

To be continued - the return to the parking area.

So pleased to have you back on board Flutterby and thanks for the lovely comments.

Yip, my hat enjoyed an Aussie trip but I bought a new one while there and the old one has been retired.

HELLS GATE TO PARKING AREA.

Someone mentioned to us that there was a hedgehog next to the pathway. We came across him snuffling through the undergrowth but it wasn't a hedgehog it as an Echidna or more affectionately known as the spiny anteater.

Having got the above shot I thought I might get a better shot by walking into the undergrowth a little way but gave it up after 4 steps as I felt that the rustling of leaves would scare it away so I retreated back to the pathway. I know it was naughty to have walked off the pathway but I so desperately wanted a better view of him as this was a lifer for me.

Back on the pathway we pointed out the Echidna to another guy who suddenly said " There is a Banded Snake " and sure enough right near where I had walked was this:

Image

Not sure if it was a dead snake or alive but needless to say I was very relieved not to have stood on it. Joan reprimanded me and said " Let that be a lesson to you."

Can anyone advise if it was harmless or poisonous and was it dead?

On another occasion we went to visit some folk who stay at Pelican Waters and have a lovely dam in front of their house. With a lot of dragon flies about I tried to get a few photos - tricky little things to try and photograph.

Next - MCSR Rainforest walk.

The rest of the way back to the parking area I stuck to the very centre of the pathway.
