Hi,

If you have a look at the first post in this thread:
https://www.africawild-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=129&t=7868

The photo is sideways.
It was upright on my desktop.
Uploaded directly to the Forum (not via a hosting website)

Has happened twice this week.

Techies, any ideas?

Thanks

Cameras save photos in the same orientation (landscape) all the time, but add exif data about whether the photo is portrait or landscape. On your desktop when you open a photo, the viewing software is clever enough to read the exif data and display the image either portrait or landscape, even though the actual image is saved in a landscape orientation. To get a truly portrait image, the pixels have to be moved into new locations and that's a computationally intensive task which is why cameras themselves don't bother doing it.

When you upload the image as an attachment it seems like the forum software ignores that exif data and just displays the landscape version of the image. Perhaps one option is to try rotating the image on your desktop before uploading :-?

@PJL,

I did try it sideways and rotating upright, but that gave the same result -O-

Dzombo,

It must be something in the exif data of your files as I tried a test with your spiders book pic and I could not get it right.

Funnily enough, when I opened it in my downloads folder, it was the right way up automatically. :-? I'm stumped. 0: Sorry.
