The following morning we left early heading off to Malelane camp
We found some birds first off
And then something special we have been hoping to see even if only briefly as they crossed the road and headed into thicker bushes we only managed to get a few bum shots as proof of sighting
We carried on towards Biyamiti very happy with our sighting
At Biyamiti a group of Ellies was coming down to drink
We had driven over the Weir and another vehicle came down so we moved over at the end and turned around to watch .
We also had the company of a Kingfisher
And a dragon fly
Eventually they finished and moved off across the road giving the car that had crossed over some attention
Very happy with our morning so far we heading off to Afsaal for a break

I think that is a martial eagle at the beginning, Rog, but also curious as to what tree that is!
Sable!
And lovely ellie views, the weir really gives a unique angle.
Plus nice kingfisher with tilapia!

Re: Repeat of the September "Work" trip
While driving by Afsaal I got a call about work so had to go to do some actual work for the rest of the day
The following day I completed some morning work checks so it was a bit later start .We headed back to the Biyamiti loop to do some late morning loops .
On the way we met this big old Ellie with very straight tusks much like the female elephant tuskers but thicker .
A giraffe stalking its prey
and some Kudu testing their skills
A passing car let us Know todays entertainment at the Weir was some sleeping Lions which we thanked them .
Arriving at the opposite side where we were directed we found the sleeping Cats
They were flat cats and quite a distance off even from the opposite side of the Weir it was maximum zoom
We carried on going onto the S118 loop and found another Kudu getting the full SPA treatment
We found some Ground Hornbills chugging down some bugs
We decided to go over Steilberg to Berg en Dal to get something to eat .We did not see anything of note going over the hill and soon arrived at Berg En Dal only to find out there was no service at the restaurant due to problems with deliveries so we just got some take away coffee and headed to camp to make Lunch ...

Funny that giraffes often have such strange growths
The SPA kudu really needs some treatment with all those tics
Flat lions are not much fun
Ground hornbills are strange birds, but also fascinating
