We sat a while trying to work out what had just happened, when we saw the two pursuers returning O/\ O/\

They walked all the way back to Kij Kij, roaring as they went.
Just letting everyone know who’s boss.

He was marking his territory as they moved along

Once back at Kij Kij, they happily joined up with the old lady and settled down once again.

After all the excitement, we needed a break from the car so we took a drive up to Melkvlei, where we stretched our legs before returning to Kij Kij.
The lions had now virtually passed out, so we decided to take a last drive over the dune road in search of yesterday’s cheetah.

This kori bustard was the only sighting along the road.

Arriving at Auchterlonie, we were told of two sleeping lionesses just north of the dune road intersection
We had to check for ourselves.
As we were told, they were pretty flat, but at one stage, this lady lifted her head to look at us.

By now it was close to 11 o clock and getting warmer

We spotted another flat lion just near Houmoed on our way back to camp at Twee Rivieren.

A lunch time braai was the order of the day, and then a snooze in the afternoon.

These yellow mongooses were keeping an eye on us, and on each other, as we were getting ready for our afternoon drive to Houmoed and back to check on the sleeping lions.

We arrived at Houmoed to find that the lion which had previously been asleep under a tree in the riverbed had moved up to the shade next to the water tanks at the water hole.
He had also been joined by another male.
