Today October 1st 2014 it’s exactly 3 years ago a famous Tusker died.
Born in Kruger NP in 1956 or 1957 and like all elephant babies close to his mother
-

-
Many years later he became famous. Many visitors were on the search for him.
On the good old tusker thread a general search started because our big friend did not show himself for some time. Where is Duke ?
He lost a tusk and it was news ! His tusk was found….. later on he lost his second tusk and this one was found too and…. It was news again.
He was and is a Legend.
1st of October 2011 he died of old age. He was found close to Crocodile Bridge
Just a week ago I received pictures of Duke with his two tusks. Sent to me by Dawie Fourie. Dawie made the replica’s of Duke’s tusks
I think it is a good moment to share these pictures of Duke with you knowing so many have seen him and many searched but have never seen him
Here he is again in all beauty with his impressive tusks.
-

-
Duke the gentleman came closer to the road to show himself with all his beautiful ivory
-

-
And walking slowly to get an even better look
-

-
and last….. with 3 tusks ?
-

-

Sprocky,
Great sighting !! It;s MCULU an officially named tusker.
This is an easy to ID tusker if you can see the left ear on a photo , with the large W shaped notches and his tusks.
Love to receive these pictures Sprocky

Gracious!
A huge one, Sprocks!
A nice Duke story, aat!
I actually saw him as a youngster in 1994/5....standing patiently next to the road just south of LS waiting to cross...unfortunately I had no idea of what I was looking at!
