Saturday 1st September 2018 – Continued

They were on a mission and looked like they were looking for dinner :-0

Image

Soon they were all heading down to the bridge

Image

Then they stopped and waited, as they were ahead of us, we could not see what they were watching

Image

Then they started jogging down towards the bridge

Image

When we reached the corner, we caught sight of what they were watching, the impala herd was returning to the park after grazing on the far bank

Image

Some of the lions moved onto the side of the road and kept watch

Image

Then they ran and scattered the impala herd, but that was just the start….

Saturday 1st September 2018 – Continues

The rest of the impala that had not crossed ran back to the far side of the bridge. The hunt started again, this time across the bridge

Image

The Impala had nowhere to run and they seemed trapped on the left of the bridge.

The Impala herd can be seen on the left top of the photo

Image

The chase started but the Impala outsmarted the Lions and dashed to the right side of the bridge and ran along in front of Elephant Walk Retreat

The Impala on the right of the photo are now replaced by a lion

Image

Enough exercise for this guy, he just lay down in the middle of Croc Bridge

Image

A quick drink and

Image

Then they were off along the bank to find the Impala again. It was after 19h00 now, and we lost sight of the lions. So, we headed back to Marloth.

Image

Where we enjoyed the Bushbaby that was dive bombing us while we were trying to braai

Holy crap, SN!

What grand fun there on the bridge! O\/ 0:

To answer your question, yes you are meant to bugger off at gate closing-time, that counts for both sets of gates. I suspect the outside gate now stays open much longer as all sorts of organised drives go in and out the whole time. Still, they should close the outside gate and man it. Not the end of the world! \O

Looks like nice celebrations there at the end! X#X

lol Yes hyenas often remind me of different dogs
^Q^ O/\ Wow what a great time with the Lions .Your much more brave than us we recently have seen a Cheetah there on the way out between the two gates but moved off as we were worried about the outside gate closing lol

More interesting question how do they manage to stop the Lions ,buck and Ellies walking out the gate as we often see them close to the gate at gate closing but never see anyone at the gate even after closing time (we get through first gate at closing ) and there is not a cattle grid as far as I can remember . -O-

Sunday 2nd September 2018

Sunday was our last full day, so we took a drive up to Lower Sabie on the H4-2. First were the resident Lion of the Vurhami pride again scattered on all sides of Gezantombi dam.

Image

A herd of Ellies had been to the dam for a drink and were walking directly towards the lions

Image

The lions were not too happy

Image

And neither were the Ellies

Image

But after both sides had done a bit of showing off, all ended peacefully
