Thank you Flutterby, Lisbeth, Jillinflorida, Moggiedog, Bush Brat & Pooky. \O

Flutts, I felt like joining them on the beach, they looked to be quite comfortable there. =O:

Lis, they were not the only big lumps on the beach that day after all the food I'd eaten. =O:

Jill, A lot of my picks are luck rather than judgment as well. \O The Skuas obviously get enough food by chasing the other birds or they would have given up long ago. =O:

Moggiedog, Thanks, hope you manage to get there one day, I can recommend it highly. Not as much diversity as Africa, but still has that Wow factor.

BB, Thanks. I wanted to be lazy with them. \O

Pooky, Glad you caught up. Just a couple more posts to go and I'll have to find somewhere else to visit soon. \O

Three Walrus were just offshore following people as they walked along the beach. Everyone stopped and they started to come closer to give us the once over. They were so close at one stage, I'm sure I could have reached out ant tickled their whiskers. -O

This gave me an opportunity to get some "in your face" pics of them as they posed in front of us.

Everyone was lined along the beach snapping away with their cameras while these gentle giants simply stared back at us.

It was great to see them flexing theur whiskers.

What a marvellous experience to be so close to these animals. It's an experience I'll never forget and one which rarely happens thesedays.
To give you some idea as to how close they were, here is a pic of a few lumps on the beach.

Wow! They certainly weren't fearful of the 'lumps' on the beach. Great closeups. The tusks were something. I would guess from the conditon of the tusks they weren't 'youngsters'.

Dewi wrote:Little Auks, or Dovekies

The birds are so small that getting close ups of them as they were swimming was difficult, so I tried to get photos with nice patterns in the waves to make the photo more interesting.

And to finish off tonights post, a couple of photos of the ice in the bay.

Thank you Lisbeth, Jillinflorida, Bush Brat, Leachy & Mel. \O

Lis, just being there was wow enough. Did not want to upset the poor guys. =O:

Jill, One was a mature bull, I think the others were just about getting there.

BB, Neither am I. =O:

Leachy, Like the Usain Bolt description. -O \O

Mel, the next bits went even further out of this World. \O

OK, time to start wrapping this one up I think...........
