When we were there, the waterhole was very quiet during the day, but after the light went out in the evening, it was a different story. \O

On our last morning there, the King decided to put in a daytime appearance, just as a herd of kudu decided to use the waterhole. The Kudu stayed around, but the King was under surveillance all the time.

He left and walked up past unit 4. We decided to follow him until the Grootkolk/Union's End road junction.
Sniffing the air!

Announcing his presence.

Then he decided to flop on a little ridge at the junction.

We passed him, still there, a little later in the morning on our way back to Nossob.

The one you saw in January 2012 is no more, I'm afraid, nan. :-(
According to what Franco told us already in March, he was defeated
by the current one and looked poorly soon after. Franco said that he
was chased off to the Bots side some time ago and he reckon's that
he's 'where he wants to be' now.

Thanks for that update Mel. In future just put a zip lock plastic bag over the tap and you will not have problem with bees at the tap

^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^
like you never had problem with bees... only around the tap
what the birtbath could do to attract them... and better further than around the tap 0*\

that is true, nan.

This year we were not allowed to put up a bird bath and the bees were everywhere looking for water 0*\

and there were no birds around 0=
