Massive infrastructural developments planned for Northern parts of KNP
The Northern part of the Kruger National Park will see massive infrastructural developments over the next 5 years.

A new entrance gate in the Giyani area, a futuristic tourism centre at the entrance to the Park at Phalaborwa Gate, a new tented camp at Punda Maria and numerous other developments form part of the Kruger park’s 5 year development plan which was compiled recently.

Several new picnic spots, a cultural village at Masorini and new bird hides and ablution facilities at several hides, are all on the agenda for the short term.

Although some developments at Bergendal, Lower Sabie and other parts in the Southern region of the Kruger Park are also planned, the focus is clearly on the northern part.

For years now , visitors, tourists and other role players all agreed that the southern part of Kruger was over developed and commercialized while the northern part was under developed and really offered more for discerning tourists.

Clearly management agrees and the focus for future development is predominantly north.

*A full report on all these projects will be published in next week’s Herald.

Yes to the first part. Who said that the northern part was "underdevelloped"?

The north will have more diverse options and some folks might like it. Tented camps are perhaps less expensive :O^

We have the choice to stay away, but it's not the best of options. I have already stopped staying in the park, the next will be another country. In any case it will take some time before they will have finished all their future plans \O

New (additional) guest beds in existing camps: do the maths

Convert conference facility to family cottage - Bateleur

Upgrade old maintenance workshop to tourist unit - Shingwedzi

Upgrade communal kitchen to family cottage - Olifants

Convert old linen room to family cottage - Satara

Upgrade 2 x staff houses in camp to 2 x family cottages and upgrade back of house area - Lower Sabie

3 luxury tents in rest camp , Punda Maria

Five additional luxury tents - Sirheni

Shingwedzi tree houses x 2

Four new tents at DVS - Shingwedzi

Demolish conference facility and build 2 x family cottages - Shingwedzi

Ten new tents – Satara

Economy tents at Lower Sabie - camp site

Extend and add additional camping areas (Executive) - Pretoriuskop plus ablutions

New 3 star Rondawels x 14 - Pretoriuskop

And these upgrades come with changes and upgrades of the civil infrastructure: new boreholes, new reservoirs and new abstraction points in rivers: Lower Sabie, Crocodile Bridge, Phabene, Skukuza x 2, WPS, Olifants, Letaba

Where will they find the space to build 14 rondavels in Pretoriuskop :-?

Extend and add additional camping areas (Executive) - Pretoriuskop plus ablutions. Are these those fancy tents run by outside companies -O-

I am happy if they convert the conference facilities into family accommodation. ^Q^ ^Q^

Why luxury tents at Sirheni O/ O/ O/ O/ Leave my camp alone @#$
