Fascinating, Dewi!

Hope you showed the kids that swallow nest as a dire warning against the perils of "fooling around"!

The valley looks a bit like the Schoemanskloof area near here!

Well done!

It won't be as exciting as your day in Kruger was Sprocks. O**

So I take it Shoemanskloof is green and saturated RP. =O:

Nan, the raindrops do add a bit of texture to the pic. -O

Just said on the news here that this June was the wettest ever recorded here. Forecast says it won't settle for at least another two weeks, with very heavy showers and thunderstorms on the way. O-/

Glad you are all enjoying this. \O

One of the ringers set up a mist net and caught a couple of birds to show people how they fit the rings and the importance of collecting the recovery data over the years. The weather was too windy for a successful session as the net billowed and the birds could see that it was there and avoid it.

A Wren and a blackbird were caught though. The Wren had a brood patch, meaning that it was raising youngsters, so was released immediately. The Blackbird now sports a shiny new leg ring.

Whilst waiting for the birds to fly into the net, a beetle was caught as it scurried along at our feet.

and back at the moth trap, other species were there to marvel at.
