The burn happened...both days...article in today's paper, but just the same press release!
Certainly not the 30-30-30 conditions of last time...
Methinks they should have waited for that, but are now caught in a web of media and promises made etc...

It has been hot and dry here over more than a month now.
While there is abundant water in the veld, the vegetation will dry out faster than normal, IMO, regarding the South.
I think unplanned burns will start early...

The weather is now getting dangerous...extreme temps, wind, and no hope of rain yet...
Bone-dry, including Transfrontier Park, according to weather maps!
Rivers still ok though, and dams?

right, I'm a bit frightened about the fire in Kgalagadi
already have an important one in a camp... and another one who run everywhere in the dunes
and of course all the fires... everywhere

Pretoriuskop area burnt heavily already...one of my kids was there last weekend.
