Hello all, 0/*

I wanted to share some pics of a house guest we had a while back. She was beautiful and much loved by all, especially a certain little boy who thought her the coolest thing ever. We used to pass her by on the way to and from the braai, and she became a much loved and talked about fixture on our stoep, where she made her home for the better part of about 4 months.

Sadly, the inevitable day arrived when she was just no longer there. -O- We looked all around, waited, watched. But sadly she had just vanished, and has never been seen since.

I do wonder what became of her - we have a pair of Mocking Chats who are very active on our stoep, there is also a Gymnogene living close by - although I have to say I think I would sacrifice even our lost darling to see him as close as that... -O

Anyway, I digress, I doubt it was the Gymnogene. ;-)

Perhaps she just left, decided the pickings were rather meager and moved on to greener pastures. Sadly missed by us all. :-(

Whatever happened to her, I wanted to share the tale and the pics. This is why I love living in the Lowveld, who else has (and more to the point wants) a Red-legged Golden Orb Web Spider as a tenant, albeit an outside one? =O:

And, some pics of other resident beasties. [O]

Another favourite of the kid, you can see why!

Weevils always remind of little old men wearing swimming caps -O

Not sure, but I think it's a Hawk Moth?

Last but not least, Bees, wonderful, endangered furry fellows.

That's all for now folks! 0/*

Orange Plume Moth

A Geranium Bronze Butterfly

Amegilla caelestina, one of the Long Tongued Bees - Really difficult to photograph in the air as they fly in rapid zig-zags
