19th August 2019
After we had all cooled down, we continued towards Skukuza. At the H12 high water bridge there was a lion lying on an island in the middle, lots of cars but no OSVs so traffic was flowing well
Just before the Skukuza turn off were more lion, this time tracking something in the river bed.
There was a half hearted attempt at a chase but nothing was going to come of it, so we headed out the traffic towards Skukuza.
Only to be pulled over by the Traffic Police…. “Your daughter had her arm out the window with the big camera …. “.
Now of course there was a taxi stopped right in front of us with 20 arms out the window with cell phones, but I said nothing and apologized. No luck, we were going to get a ticket. But then we were saved by a wasp…
It flew in the police car window and I warned the lady in the car, papers flying and screeching.
Now that I had warned her about the wasp.. I was only going to get a warning. So I passed her the previous days entry ticket and she wrote a warning on it (totally irrelevant as it was yesterday’s entry ticket).
Anyway a huge fuss about nothing and we went on for our annual statue photos..
There had been enough drama for the day, so we agreed on a quiet slow drive down to Croc bridge. W avoided all the traffic jams and put on some 80s music.
On the way down we found a practice fight going on.
And a couple of lion sightings, all to ourselves.

19th August 2019
It had been a busy day and we took a slow cruise down the H4-2, all singing along to the 80s music…
Then just before the S28 turn off we spotted something running in the dry grass… a Civet
At Gezantombi dam the lions from the morning hadn’t done or moved much, but we still had time, so went to the dam lookout spot and waited for the sun to set.
A few Zebra were heading down to the water but soon picked up on the lions and found another place to drink.
At Croc Bridge, we were heading over the bridge when something spooked the resident Impala herd and as we were on the bridge they had to go through the water. I have not seen a river crossing so close before..

20th August 2019
Roxy and Kelly had to go back to Johannesburg, so we suggested that we go in Malelane gate, do a quick loop looking for the Leopard and Wild dog. All agreed as it would make more sense being closer and easier to drive to Johannesburg from there.
The drive was just a quick loop around the S119 and S118. As we were about half way on the S119, I pulled up alongside a stopped car and asked the lady what she was looing at, she answered “Nothing, there have been Leopards here but nothing now” so we pulled into the loop off the road and chilled.
Then suddenly two Leopard cubs climbed up the tree next to Roxy.
They were about 2 meters from our car, it made taking pics difficult but no one was complaining
After playing for about an hour in the tree they climbed down and disappeared behind a sand bank in the river. We waited a sure enough a head popped out.
They played in the sand for a while then headed to some big trees and climbed up to chill on a branch.
As the cubs had settled down and Roxy had to head back to Johannesburg, we drove back down to the Malelane Gate.
