Mel wrote: Fri Mar 24, 2023 6:15 am Amazing shots of the brown snake-eagle. I was spoilt with them in my early KTP years and took them for granted. But I haven't seen much of them lately. However, it was extremely dry on our pre-covid visits. So, not so surprising. But interesting how things can turn around in just under two weeks.

Spotties are always a special sighting! O\/

Thank you Mel...the images are of a juvenile black-chested snake eagle :) But yes ...I agree ..we also seemed to have seem way more brown snake eagles in the past.
I enjoy watching hyenas as well. :)

We saw quite a few Spotted Hyena on this trip. Another lovely sighting was this hyena at the Nossob Hide. We had just got in from our afternoon drive and after handing our permit in I decided to pop into the hide. I was rewarded with this hyena doing what hyenas love doing best...getting right into the waterhole. This one was very clever though and knew exactly where the lovely fresh water was coming from ....... :-) On a closer look at her belly I am wondering whether she was expecting or already had pups.
