Now for a bit of birding.
We were in the park for 22 days and ticked 94 birds. I was hoping to beat Feb 2022's trip of 102 but sadly I didn't . There was not much water around therefore there was a lack of those wandering waterbirds.

I'll start with my favourite - Owls.
There was a not many around but I did manage to tick all the usual suspects bar the Pearl Spotted Owlet. I had almost given up on the Verreaux's Eagle Owl but Doug spotted one in a distant tree from the hide at Twee Rivieren ( on our very last day ) Twee Rivieren was lacking Owls this time round. Mata Mata had a family of Southern White-faced Owls in the tree behind the hide. They were a great source of entertainment for the campers especially this one that insisted on hanging upside down when checking the audience out. There afterwards it would turn itself right way up again...little clown lol

This is where I was hoping to find the Pearl-spotted owlet but I didn't even hear one.

Nossob had it's fair share of Barn Owls , Southern White-faced Owls and Spotted Eagle Owls. The Barn Owls were elusive during the day but I did see them flying around the waterhole in the evening. I finally did manage to find one roosting during the day ....it was pretty much dertermined not to show itself.

The Southern White-faced Owl family were mostly in the tree behind the shop during the day and were quite active in the evening flying and calling in the campsite. The Spotted Eagle Owl had made itself at home behind chalet 1 2 and 3 and were also seen in the early morning around campsite 3 and 4. One morning there was one perched on the car . I don't think I have ever seen Spotted Eagle Owls inside Nossob camp before ...:) There is always a first for everything :)

My best owl sighting on this trip was a family of Spotted Eagle Owls . They were in a tree right next to the side of the road between Dalkeith and 14th.
Very inquisitive and entertaining. I couldn't help myself and I had to photograph them each time I saw them. :)

There were four the tree - probably Mom and three young ones.
