We ended up in Connel. A delightful little town and a good place to stay for a night.
The restaurant of our choice – the Oyster Inn – against the threatening dark sky.

Mind you, there are not that many places to eat in Connel. But this was absolutely awesome and we spoilt ourselves with excellent food after all the pub grub we had eaten the days before.
Crayfish with homemade Marie Rose sauce:

It varies. Lots of those castles are just ruins (like Stalker). Lots for them are museums (like Dunvegan and Eilean Donan).
And some serve as a residence for the rich (like Balmoral for the British Royal Family). There are so many castles around
Scotland, it's actually unbelievable!
