I love, really love (but that you already know) the Snakes and the Cape Cobra is a magnificent specimen,
normely Gowhaw are found with Honey Badger and BBJ, normely... but for you always something special shame it didn't stay
ready for more odd sightings

It is not only the snakes that almost caused a bit of heart failure ..there were other critters as well.

I was making my way up to the water tanks behind the riverfront chalets in Mata Mata when this critter shot out of the bushes . First of all this is only the third one that I have seen in all my visits to the park and I certainly never thought I would see one in a camp. Luckily I had my camera in my hand and the reflexes are too shabby ( yet ) and I managed some proof shots. I don't think anybody would have believed me otherwise.

I actually do believe he got a bigger fright than I did ...he kicked up a lot of dust as he scurried underneath a nearby bush. I followed at a distance but he was nowhere to be seen. Just for the record there were absolutely no birds around the water tanks.

It also looks quite big, if my measure of the bush in the background is right You are an expert in finding "things" in the KTP that shouldn't be there

On this trip though I was on a mission to photograph critters big and small for my Grandson Sam that lives in New Zealand . My daughter ,hubby and my Grandchildren are coming to visit at the end of March and we are going to the Kgalagadi for 8days. Sam is besides himself with excitement and has a Wishlist a mile long. New Zealand doesn't much in the line of animals so it is going to be very easy to impress him.
So here are the last of the "reptile critters " that I photographed for Sam. :)
